What’s It to Me? – What Your Skin Looks Like
Caught in the Middle: Dermis

The dermis is the middle layer of the skin. It lies above the hypodermis and below the epidermis. The dermis gives skin its strength and flexibility. In the dermis is found a network of collagen fibers. This network serves as a support structure for blood vessels, lymph vessels, muscle fibers, and nerve endings. Many glands, including sweat glands, and hair follicles are also found in the dermis.
